Silas approached Tiffany. Despite her recent ordeal, she stood tall and composed, her armor gleaming in the fading light. "I'm sorry I didn't join you in the fight, but it looked like I'd only get in the way," Silas said. "You were incredible, though. You said you were good, but I didn't know that level of fighting was possible." Tiffany turned to him, her expression softening slightly. She waved her hand dismissively, as if defeating a powerful elven warrior was a mere trifle. "Thank you, Silas,…

Silas's rage consumed him as he slammed the ogre into the ground repeatedly, each impact sending shockwaves through the earth. Blood splattered across the battlefield, the once-mighty creature reduced to a broken, pulpy mass beneath his relentless assault. Before he could revel in his victory, chaos erupted around him. A fresh wave of ogres burst onto the scene, their massive shoulders adorned with goblin archers. The air filled with the twang of bowstrings and the whistle of arrows as the goblins…

Silas realized he hadn't received a notification in quite some time. He checked the icon in the upper right corner of his vision, and he had 50 notifications! Opening them up, he saw that most of them were hp loss notifications from his fight with Damien, but a couple caught his eye. One said . Another said . Evolving probably would change his appearance more drastically than last time. After some consideration, he decided to wait until he was alone to evolve. * * * Silas Blackwood's eyes…

As the last of the carnivorous blooms fell, Silas and his companions took a moment to catch their breath. The glade was now littered with the remains of the deadly flowers, their petals and stems strewn across the ground. But their respite was short-lived. A thunderous rumbling shook the earth beneath their feet, and the trees at the edge of the clearing began to sway and bend. Something massive was approaching. Silas readied his war hammer, his eyes scanning the treeline for any sign of movement.…

After the Damien problem had been dealt with temporarily, everything seemed to quiet down for Silas for a while. His classes went well. He was achieving high marks in two of his three classes. Arcane theory was throwing him for a loop. Most of the concepts went way over his head. He was more an action person than an analysis person, he learned. Tiffany put off the Combat and Magic I outing for a while to give Silas some room to breathe after the duel with Damien. Which was a big deal. Professors…

Silas took the headmistress's hand in his. . She didn't even flinch as the needle pierced her palm. She sat back down and smoothed out her clothes. "You were saying?" she said. "I can absorb essences, which allows me to gain beast abilities," Silas said. "And why can you do that? You're really making me pry this out of you. Just tell me the full story," she said exasperated. "I was born without a mana core, so I wasn't able to produce mana or learn spells, but before she was arrested, my mom…

Silas watched himself fly through the air in what felt like slow motion. He regretted not being able to wipe the smug look off Damien's face, but he knew his friends would do it for him. The man was not going to escape justice regardless. After hearing Lyra scream, "Nooooo!!!" suddenly, he stopped flying away from his body. He watched as his head flew in reverse of its original trajectory and reattached itself to his body. He was alive again. Technically, he had never been unalive, since he was…

"What's wrong, Silas?" Lyra asked, her voice gentle, filled with concern. Silas, startled from his reverie, turned to face her. "I... I don't know," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's just... everything. There's so much I want to do, and it feels like we don't have enough time to do it." "Like what?" Lyra asked. "Like saving my mother," Silas said. "We have more than enough time to save your mother. We killed a basilisk in a week. We got this," Lyra said. "You're probably…

Silas Blackwood, his body still aching from the grueling battle with the basilisk, approached the altar in the center of the room. His eyes fell upon the staff that lay atop it, its surface gleaming with an otherworldly light. This, he presumed, was the Staff of Aleron, the artifact they had been seeking. Silas, activated his Essence Revelation skill, focusing his gaze on the staff without touching it. The information flooded his mind, revealing the staff's true nature. It was a tier 5 magical item,…

Knowing they were up against a basilisk, Silas went back to his skill menus and chose aura sight and sneak attack. Aura sight would allow him to see the beast's aura with his eyes closed. Sneak attack doubled his attack damage if his opponent wasn't looking directly at him. Since it was a snake and had to move it's head a lot to see him, this could help him end the fight quicker. Silas rummaged through his inventory, his mind racing to find a solution to the petrification threat. As Lyra suggested…
