I charged at the monster as it also charged at me. The faster one would obtain the more decisive victory. The monster was sluggish, having an HP a little above 1,000, and all other Stats reduced to a mere vestige of what it had previously been. It was a cinch for me, or so it would have been if I wasn’t in a similar predicament. We were both at our limits—physically, that is. One hit would decide everything! >FWOOOOOOSSHHHH!!!< My body cut through the wind as I prepared both my blades for the…

>BOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!< I made sure to land on the Hobgoblin Chief’s stomach, pressing my legs on it while putting all my strength into the strike. The earth beneath the Demon shattered as more of its health was drained. It spat out blood and gave a pained expression, the kind I loved to see on a monster of its caliber. “So, what do you think now, eh? Still think I’m just a puny insect?” The monster groaned, feeling another Status Condition affect it. I grinned ear to ear as I could feel the…

>BOOOOOOMMMM!!!< The earth shattered as I thrust my body into the air with all my strength. >BAM!< I was met with the abrupt resistance of the invisible force field in what would have been an empty space… except it wasn’t an empty space! “Oh, no, you don’t!” I yelled. In response to my voice, a sharp sound pierced my ear and I felt the very air vibrate. I didn’t need anyone to tell me what was happening. “It’s coming!” A whisper subconsciously leaked out as I pinpointed the location…

My heart pounded as my head rang. It took all I had to stop myself from running away due to the immense pressure being emitted by the monster—by a creature far superior to me in nearly every way. Still, due to this action that it took, I knew victory was in sight. “Garuiak Guguak Laruik!!!” It bellowed unintelligible words which I ignored. Lunging straight at the beast as everything around me turned into a blur, I raced and closed the distance between us in a flash. >SWOOOSH!!!< My tightly…

>FWOOOOSHHH< My legs crushed the battered ground beneath me as I once again sprang into action and charged at the impossibly colossal excuse for a Hobgoblin. The monster, expecting I would have lost some of my nerve, appeared surprised by my sudden action and gave a slightly accorded expression to the emotion. It didn’t plan on staying still, though. Roaring in what seemed to be a champion’s cry, it stretched its unoccupied hand and aimed to crush me with sheer might. I expected this,…

“Clench your teeth!” Putting all my strength into my blow, I gave a straight thrust and connected with the hot flesh of the opponent. >BOOOOOOMMMM!!!< Shockwaves flew that very instant as well as sparks caused by our colliding energy. The force was enough to push the monster back, but I was also caught in its recoil. “A-ah… ow!” My body jerked back in recoil as I flipped in midair and landed safely on the ground. >RUMBLE!< Sounds of trembling earth reverberated around me as the monster…

My enemy had far superior Stats compared to mine. Currently, my Status Window looked like this— – Name: Jeremy Lewis – Level: 281 – Exp: 11.52% – Race: Human (Primary Job) Thief (Secondly Job): – Age: 16 Years – Sex: Male – Height: 5″ 3. – Weight: 115 pounds – Alignment: Chaotic Neutral – Karma Points: 2,130 – (G) Karma Points: 155 – HP: 14,150/14,150 – MP: 3,896/3,896 – Strength: 2,860 (520) – Agility: 14,350 (412) – Vitality: 14,150 (130) –…

Grades—the very means by which one could measure the power of a Demon. Levels of Demons are proportional to their race and Grades, so it isn’t impossible to see a Level 100 Grade 1 monster lose to a Level 10 Grade 2. Grades essentially separate what is possible and impossible for a Gifted in battle. This was how I could explain things simply. All monsters I had encountered so far belonged to the Grade 1 category. They were all Lesser Demons with low sets of Stats. They had numbers, sure, but their…

With my eyes fixated on the one who seemed to be the most powerful of the bunch, I whispered words to myself. “That one… is strong!” But, I wasn’t about to get myself discouraged. Casters, Advanced Warriors, Advanced Archers, Advanced Tankers… I could see them all stretch at a distance. They all took their stances. Archers took their aims, Casters were ready to launch Spell, as the others prepared for their moves as well. This was a much larger crowd than anything I had faced so far, and they…
