These guys wore bracelets of ownership made out of silver. I collected them all, and the rings and earrings on a couple of them, as I made my way back down the stairs and through the house, looting them without stopping, ending with the big purple guy with holes blown into and all over him. It actually had a silver bracer, like a slaver’s cuff, complete with a ring to hook chains to, if it was of a mind. It also had gold rings on each finger, and a line of cheap earrings up its long ears, plus under its…

The zombies were quick to help me out. I cycled a new The corpses of the zombies built up pretty quickly, and as they burned and fed one another, I soon had a vivic bonfire going on down there. A couple zombies tried to climb over it as it started to rage, and didn’t get past the turn at the foot of the stairs before they joined the misting flames of the vivic fire. I naturally wasn’t going to wait up there for something to happen, and moved slowly down the steps until I could see more of them.…

The control radius of a ‘new’ Dark Minister was five hundred feet. This was natural, and without limit... any undead of fewer Hit Dice than the Minister was subject to its control and coming under its influence. As it got more undead under its control, and specifically Congregants, intelligent undead subordinates, it could expand its sphere of influence up to five hundred yards. The Congregants formed chains of control in every direction that could keep control of any undead the Dark Minister…

That mental alert was very unwanted, even coming as it did on the heels of the healing rush that once again eased some of my ability damage (and my feet stopped throbbing). My guts didn’t feel so horrible, and I just felt understrength and stiff, not aching in all my joints. I I hit my head as I looked at it. That was a Class for Evil characters! It was intended for con men and agnostics who didn’t believe in ‘gods’, and stole the power of faith from the gods for their own use, typically setting…

The sum of my belongings was in my purse... what looted gold-equivs I had, and what had been in there first. I pulled out things like tissues, tampons, pens, pencils, scissors, a wallet, and a cosmetics bag with lipstick, perfume, eye shadow, and the like. Ael had been a married man with three daughters, and was able to shapechange. Learning about all this stuff had been an entertaining diversion at some point, but I recalled nothing about the circumstances. Maybe it was just harmonizing with residual…

One that was coming this way made it inside, but not out of the sunlight. The first beam came weakly through the hazy Shroud, but that was enough, as suddenly that zombie burst into golden flames in front of me, thrashing a bit as it did so, and was suddenly a char mark on the cement. There were a couple others in the distance, zombies who hadn’t gotten under cover in time, and the sun burned them away. It didn’t actually have to touch them... they were in shadows outside, but when the first ray of…

Now, there were plenty of ways to cover the weakness of Cantrips. I just wouldn’t be able to address any of them until the next Renewal, and then only to a limited extent. So, if a powerful undead came this way, or Mithar help me, an energy-drainer, I was basically hosed unless I got lucky. Yay, me... I sat down at the junction of the long hall, where I could look down it towards the garage, and see anything coming outside from the back, too. If it was just one or two zombies, I could basically get up…

I recast the Ringbound Jinx Witch. I went over the array of abilities: unlimited use of a scaling Hex effect, pre-chosen as AND my Ring was my Item Familiar, and would serve as a Spellbook... and due to Arcane Bond, hooked to both Sorcerer and Wizard Spells! Like playing cards being shuffled, all the active Wizard spells in my head flowed down my Arcane Bond into the Ring, and encoded themselves into the matrix of Whose Valences were currently suffering mana burn and couldn’t be Cast from for eight…

I flicked up a I poked my arm around the corner, and shot the first one in its jawless head, dropping it with a flaming stump, pulling back from the grabs of two zombies, and as they lunged into the burning corpses and caught on vivic fire, I backed away, shot the first one as it stumbled on the corpses, and let the second one tumble down, start to get up, and vivic fires blew out its empty eye sockets. It fell back down, and I moved forwards to keep the rest of the zombies in the hallway in range. I…

Okay, I looked around, and saw a pile of stuff over to the side, walked over carefully on the cement floor. A pair of flats that looked exactly my shoe size, and a stylish woman’s purse. I put the slipper-like shoes on, and yes, they did indeed fit perfectly. I picked up the purse, and slung it across my chest, as I couldn’t have it dragging at my side right now. Okay, here I was, the 1/1 glass cannon, ready to take on the world... ability damage and everything. I padded over towards the door as…
